Danish Bakery & Coffee Shop
It’s hard to tell where the idea of the Danish Bakery first began, but ask anyone who’s spent time in Denmark, and they’ll tell you that you're never too far from a bakery. It’s just a part of daily life. When they moved to Wales in 1998, they very quickly felt at home, but they did miss the bread. Their love of bread started at home. Their grandfather (Far Far) - was a baker in central København, and so they were very used to tales of making bread, pastries and cake - and plenty of sampling too. It took a few years, but what was started as a dream slowly turned into a plan, and in November 2015, the dream finally became reality. Their first location opened in an old corner shop in Pontcanna. In January 2020, their adventure took on a new dimension with the opening of their second location in Penarth. Today, the journey continues, they still love meeting new and old faces every day, and proud to have been able to bring a little taste of Denmark to Wales.
Lily Pad Florist

The Turner House
The Turner House has a rich history, the building which was devised by James Pyke Thompson has always been a center for arts and culture in Penarth: James Pyke Thompson was born in Bridgewater and educated in Weston Super Mare, Brighton and Paris. When 18 years old he joined the family business, the flower millers. By 1881, James had become wealthy enough to build a large house in Penarth and create a varied collection of paintings and prints. A few years later he decided to build a small art gallery in the corner of his garden to exhibit a small part of this collection. Pyke Thompson called it The Turner House.
